The original title was “Joy F- Club” and just from that I thought, “Whoa! This is going to turn everything on its head.” I think now it was very cathartic to have the creators of this, Cherry, Teresa and Adele, having experienced feelings of finding yourself and reconciling your relationships, parental, generational, racial - all these different parts of yourself. I was surprised as to why I was fully sobbing. Initially when I read the script, I cried.
